This Fourth of July Weekend, join us as we take social events to the next level! Start off the weekend at our Welcome Carnival, where you can enjoy a variety of games with your friends from across the country. If you’re a new attendee, we’ll also be organizing a brief orientation-style event to help you acclimate to Convention. In the evening, watch YJA-ers from all over the U.S. as they showcase their unique skills at our Talent Show competition. After that, prepare for some exciting activities to make new friends that could last a lifetime! The following day, dress up in your most colorful kurtas and cholis and show off your moves at Garba. But the weekend isn’t over yet; head over to our post-garba mixer to refuel with some delicious snacks and re-energize with games. Finally, dance the night away at our formal event that’s sure to be an unforgettable night. We can’t wait to join you as we Progress with Purpose this July!
Get ready to kick off the best Convention yet with a fun-filled carnival including inflatables, games, snacks, and a chance to win raffle prizes! Reconnect with old friends and get ready to meet new ones. Dress code is casual and the carnival will go on throughout the first day until Opening Ceremony.
New to YJA? Nervous about attending your first Convention? Don’t fear, Social is here! For the first time ever, the Social Programming Committee is excited to give a special welcome to new attendees by connecting them with other first-timers. We will provide an overview of the weekend, as well as run ice breakers so you can enter Convention with new friends! Dress code is casual for this optional event.
Do you sing, dance, or possess a unique talent? This is your opportunity to shine and showcase your skills on the YJA Convention stage! If you are interested in judging, emceeing, or participating in this year’s Talent Show, please indicate your interest when you register so we can reach out to you soon. Audience members should dress to impress.
Missing Navratri season? Twirl your dandiyas, show off your Desi style, and get your Garba on during the second night of Convention. Dress code is traditional garba attire for ladies (i.e. Chanya Choli, Salwar Kamize) and traditional Indian attire for gentlemen (i.e. Kurta Pyjama, Sherwani, Dhoti/Kurta).
After dancing the night away to 12-step, it’s time to refuel with some mouth-watering snacks. Hang out with friends and bond over games like Mafia, Empire, and other YJA classics!
Get hyped up for the most anticipated night of Convention that will have you saying “WOAH.” From 2000’s throwbacks to today’s hits, break it down on the dance floor like you’ve never before. Dress code is American formal or semi-formal attire - more details to come in the near future.
